01/26/2019 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Walking and Falling: A DJ Workshop and Mentor Program for Woman-Identifying and Non-binary Music Enthusiasts

free | 14:00 – 17:00

Walking and Falling will host a free public introductory DJ workshop on January 26th. The event will be open to woman-identifying and non-binary music enthusiasts who have an interest in DJing. Participants will be able to learn the basics of DJing in a supportive, hands-on environment. There will also be a small panel discussion to learn more about the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of working within the dance music community and industry. Walking and Falling members from Chicago will be guiding the workshop.

–All levels of experience are welcome and questions are encouraged.
–There will be digital and vinyl turntable setups.
–Practice music will be available and plentiful, but participants are free to bring their own USB drives or records

“Walking and Falling” takes its name from a track title from pioneer electronic music artist Laurie Anderson’s album ‘Big Science’ and works well as a symbol for the type of learning philosophy necessary to grow as an artist – the tightrope balancing act between growing and failing, and how beneficial “falling” can be in the learning process.
