It was an easy decision to become partners and offer good quality affordable furniture.

You’re going to be happy to have a seat at Discounted Furniture. The shop at 2125 3rd Ave. in Rock Island has a wide variety of comfortable chairs, couches and more all at a reasonable price. Partners Juan H. Shelton and Larry P. Fennelly have run the store for over four years. “It was an easy decision for us to become partners because we were already best friends with a lot in common,” Shelton said. “It just made sense for us to work together.”

The two brought a wealth of experience to the practice. Shelton, with over 30 years experience, and his wife Sheila previously owned a successful furniture store in Davenport. Fennelly managed furniture stores for years and held various customer service-oriented positions. “We discussed opening a store with our families and each other for quite some time before we actually decided to open,” Shelton said. “We consider our store to be a family owned and operated business and family is really important to us.”

They describe their products as good quality and affordable. “For example, we now carry our own mattress line, The Medallion Collection,” Shelton said. “We were heavily involved in the production process of our line. The Medallion Collection features American Made mattresses at an affordable price. We also carry over a dozen brands of furniture to ensure that there is always a variety of styles.” They also carry high-quality used furniture. “We handpick and select any used pieces that come into our store and are often able to give new life to pieces through our restoration and repair services,” Shelton said. “In the past we’ve had a jukebox, Victorian furniture, vintage retro ‘50s chrome dining sets and more. Although, we primarily sell new furniture now, we still try to keep at least a few used but unique pieces on hand at all times. You never know what you may find here!”

They also offer delivery and assembly to the Q-C metro area.“We were casually discussing relocating from our first store in downtown Davenport when we found our current home,” Shelton said. “We wanted to move to a location that would allow us to grow, but still be right at the heart of the Quad Cities. We have expanded tremendously since then, love the area and are glad to be a part of this great community.”
