Deck the Downtowns

Deck the Downtowns 2024

Deck the Downtowns, presented by TBK Bank, is back Nov. 21, 2024 – Jan. 1, 2025, and the Rock Island Downtown Alliance is excited to bring you all-ages activities to enjoy while you eat, drink, shop and be merry in downtown Rock Island!

Celebrate the official opening of Arts Alley in downtown Rock Island with tree lighting and more on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The unveiling reveals the more than $500,000 in improvements to the outdoor event space, which include large-scale murals, decorative lighting, pop-up retail vendor stalls and more. The event, part of the Quad Cities Cultural Trust’s Culture Bright series, features a tree lighting ceremony in partnership with the City of Rock Island; caroling by the Rock Island High School Chamber Choir; unveiling of the new Quad Cities Cultural Trust-sponsored OneSound Piano; and signature drinks provided by Icons Martini and Theo’s Java Cafe. Two brand-new retail vendor stalls, crafted by Crawford Company, will be added to Arts Alley and will debut with Buttercupp Candles and Lagomarcino’s during the event. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience MetroLINK’s new Holiday Bus.

After the tree lighting in Arts Alley, the community is invited to head next door to The Urban Reserve for “An Elevated Unveiling” of the luxury rooftop event space that will feature a special selection of food and beverages.

New this year, the Arts Alley Holiday Market in downtown Rock Island, presented by Valley Construction, will be open weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 29 through Dec. 22. Learn all the details about the Arts Alley Holiday Market.

Holiday Display Challenge

The Holiday Display Challenge includes businesses competing in Downtown Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf by decorating their storefronts for the season.

We have 80+ businesses and dozens of local artists that are vying for your vote.

Vote November 21 - January 1 for your favorite display.

Voters are automatically entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize. And the artist with the top votes will get a prize.

Hunt for the Holiday Train

Inspired by Rock Island’s rich railroad history, Hunt for the Holiday Train runs Nov. 21 – Jan. 1.

Back for a third consecutive year with a new “tanker” design, the custom-crafted train ornaments laser cut by Crawford Company and decorated by Jackson Autobody & Custom Paint are hiding inside 35 downtown businesses.

Official hunt cards may be picked up at one of the participating businesses. Find 10, earn a collectible train ornament and be entered for a chance to win a grand prize. Completed cards may be turned in at one of the following locations to receive an ornament (while supplies last):
