22 Feb Rebuild Downtown Rock Island Project earns construction industry honor
The City of Rock Island’s Rebuild Downtown Project was named the Project of the Year by the Indiana, Illinois, Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting (III FFC).
Jack Cullen, Executive Director of the Rock Island Downtown Alliance, accepted the award on behalf of the project team on Feb. 19 at the III FFC’s annual Construction Industry & Public Official Appreciation Dinner at the Isle Casino & Hotel Bettendorf. Cullen praised the work of the public-private sector partners working together to bring the unique project’s exciting vision and plans to life.
“From day one, the goals of the Rebuild Downtown Rock Island Project have been to enhance public spaces, encourage private investment and improve quality of life,” he said. “I’m happy to report we are starting to see the fruits of our labor and ARE getting closer to achieving these goals.”
The nearly $9 million project, which marks the single-largest investment in downtown Rock Island’s public infrastructure in a generation, is funded by the City of Rock Island and State of Illinois. Below are the project partners that received recognition as part of the III FFC’s Project of the Year award:
