24 May Riverfront Council recognizes Downtown Rock Island for revitalization efforts
Every year, the Quad Cities Riverfront Council presents Certificates of Appreciation for work benefiting the riverfront in the Quad Cities region. At its meeting May 24, 2022, it recognized “the hard work that Downtown Rock Island has done in regards to planning for the revitalization of the District.”
In early 2021, Rock Island City Council approved a contract with the Quad Cities Chamber to provide place management services and explore the creation of a place management organization to maintain, program and promote the Downtown. Jack Cullen, Director, Downtown Rock Island, is leading that effort with the guidance of the Downtown Rock Island Steering Committee made up of business and property owners, City officials and other stakeholders.
