De’Andre Robinson, Operations Manager for the Rock Island Downtown Alliance, was chosen as the 2026 Rock Island Citizen of the Year in the Professional category by the City of Rock Island. Robinson was also selected as a Quad Cities River Bandits Community All-Star.
The City recognized Robinson and the other Citizen of the Year recipients during the City Council meeting Aug. 24 at City Hall. The awards are part of the City's annual Citizen of the Year program, which was established in 1987 to celebrate individuals and organizations that make a positive difference in the community.
On Aug. 26, Robinson’s week of recognition continued as he was recognized with the Community All-Star award on the field at the Quad Cities River Bandits game. The recognition celebrates individuals who make a meaningful impact across the region through service, leadership and community involvement.
"Thank you to the City of Rock Island, Quad Cities River Bandits and those who nominated me for these honors," Robinson said. "I just put my head down and give my best every day."
Since the Downtown Alliance launched in 2023, Robinson has led all boots-on-the-ground efforts to create and maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment in Downtown Rock Island. From removing litter and clearing snow to setting up for special events and offering support to neighborhood businesses, residents and visitors, Robinson is a commited steward for downtown all year round. As Operations Manager, he oversees a team of ambassadors that provides a wide range of cleaning, beautification and hospitality services. In addition, he works closely with law enforcement, security personnel, public transit and social service providers to keep downtown safe. Robinson, who previously did street outreach and case management work for Christian Care, also facilitates support for vulnerable individuals experiencing quality-of-life issues in the public realm.
“Downtown stakeholders nominated De’Andre for both awards, which says a lot about the impact he’s making every day in our community,” said Jack Cullen, Executive Director of the Downtown Alliance. “Thanks to his leadership and guidance, we also have a dedicated team of ambassadors who exemplify De’Andre’s professionalism and compassion in their work to keep downtown clean, safe and welcoming for all.”
This year's Citizen of the Year winners were selected from a record 64 nominations submitted by community members.
