The Holiday Display Challenge is decking out Downtown Rock Island, Bettendorf and Davenport with painted windows and plenty of holiday cheer!
From snowflakes to Santa scenes, 70+ businesses and 20 local artists are vying for your vote. You’re invited to explore these festive displays and vote for your favorite. Every voter is automatically entered into a drawing to win downtown gift cards & goodies. The artist who received the most votes wins a grand prize.
Voting is open November 20 – January 1 for your favorite display.
The tradition returns November 20 – January 1. Explore 30+ participating businesses across Downtown Rock Island and keep your eyes peeled for the hidden train. Find 10 trains to win a souvenir train ornament for your own tree and be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a grand prize.

Downtown Rock Island comes alive with light, music and local creativity on display on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Arts Alley and Schwiebert Riverfront Park. This kickoff to The Cultural Trust’s Culture Bright holiday event series includes the ceremonial tree lighting by Rock Island Mayor Ashley Harris, caroling by Rock Island High School Chamber Choir and shopping at the Arts Alley vendor stalls. In addition, attendees may enjoy crafts, games, a photo booth and live music, as well as photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The 2nd Ave. Holiday Market, presented by Valley Construction, features activities for everyone Sunday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find market vendors and holiday fun for the entire family, including a live reindeer exhibit, train rides, music, photos with Santa and the Rock Island Rotary Reindeer Ramble 5K Run/Walk.
Enjoy additional festive fun downtown throughout the season, including Winter Lights at the Quad City Botanical Center; Irving Berlin's White Christmas at Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse; Christmas Craft Show Nov. 28-30 at QCCA Expo Center; and That Dam Shopping Trip Nov. 28-29 at Skeleton Key Art & Antiques and other businesses.
